It is based on both the 2013 film of the same name, directed by Bong Joon-ho, and the 1982 French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand and Jean-Marc Rochette, from which the film was adapted.

AMC has acquired the rights to all four seasons of Snowpiercer and will air seasons 1-3 in before debuting season 4 on July 21. The core cast from season 3 is expected to return for season 4, but it's unclear if Sean Bean's character will be back.

May 7, 2024 · Per AMC, Snowpiercer season 4 has set its premiere date. The series will air this season on July 21 at 9pm ET on AMC and AMC+. Before the release of Snowpiercer season 4, seasons 1 and 2 will premiere on AMC+ on June 1. Following the release of seasons 1 and 2, AMC+ will then host Snowpiercer season 3 beginning on June 8.
