We are proud to be a part of American railroad preservation steam restoration! The 1352 was built in 1912 by ALCO for the Frisco Railway and served them until retirement in 1956.

According to my sources, at least 5 D&H RS-3s and 4 units from GB&W were upgraded to 251 engines by Morrison-Knudsen, rather than by the RRs themselves. Although the official term was TE-56, they are more commonly called RS-3Us. All four of GB&W units survive today.

May 16, 2024 · The name-plate in your photo says it is a 251-C engine, with a b.h.p. of 2800: I think the 251-C was the version Alco was using on locomotives in the early 1960s, and this rating for a 16-cylinder engine suggests it is comparable in output to the engine of C-425 (though apparently at 900 rpm rather than the 1000 Alco used on locomotive engines).
