I don’t like the idea that Hayes is constantly the one reaching out and asking to make it work. Real life is give and take, and this seems like the whole fairy tale BS they feed young people. "If a man likes you, he will keep trying even when you turn him down." I don’t think they struck a good balance in this movie, especially with the ending.
