Being on the quieter South section of Bidwell, the South Rim Trail provides a bit more peace than other areas of the park. Starting off steep and technical, the trail takes you to an area with sightings of beautiful Big Chico Creek.

Elevation Gain: 3,000 feet to the top of Yosemite Falls; 3,700 feet to Yosemite Point. Difficulty: Very strenuous. Length of Time: 6 to 8 hours. When to go: Spring, summer, or fall. The Yosemite Falls is at its maximum flow in spring and early summer.
May 11, 2024 · Although a beautiful natural wonder, Toccoa Falls is also the location where an unfortunate disaster took place. Back in the early morning of November 6, 1977, the Kelly Barnes Dam above Toccoa Falls College gave way. The aftermath was tragic, with 39 lives lost in the ensuing flood that swept through the campus, including a trailer park.

May 16, 2024 · The trail head for both of these trails are found at the overlook. One trail is the Fall Creek Falls Base Trail which will take you to the bottom of the waterfall. This trail is about a 300 foot climb down the mountain. There will be stairs and slippery rocks along the way. We did this trail with kids from the age of 4 and up.
