The II Corps, and the French Expeditionary Corps, commanded by Geoffrey Keyes and Alphonse Juin, faced the German line on the western side of the Italian Peninsula. Opposing the Allied armies was Armeegruppe “C,” commanded by Field Marshal “Smiling” Albert Kesselring.
