Yes, everyone (it seems) has a PhD or equivalent. There were several MDs and DVMs in my office. One of the colleagues who I worked with closely, didn't initially have her PhD, but got it while she was employed at NIOSH. The people who work there are absolutely fantastic, and very humble.
