My 1970 911T when at idle - makes a slight howling or whirring sound arising from underneath area- I’m guessing the transmission area. It’s a 4-speed. When I depress clutch and hold the pedal down/ the noise stops. Transmission seems lately to be a little noises when driving at fine gears.

It may be a lost cause and needing a new drivetrain/engine. How would we go about looking the vehicle over and testing before deciding to swap the engine and transmission. It's a 2.3L 5 speed manual and I believe it is a 72 but I'll edit once I confirm it from him. 1 Share.
