The Bible describes false prophets as adulterous (Jeremiah 23:14), treacherous (Zephaniah 3:4), drunkards (Isaiah 28:7), wicked (Jeremiah 23:11), liars (Jeremiah 14:14; 23:14), and associated with divination and witchcraft (Jeremiah 14:14; Ezekiel 22:28; Acts 13:6).

Matthew 7:15. “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” False prophets are individuals who pretend to be godly but are actually deceitful and harmful. This verse cautions believers to be vigilant and discerning, as false prophets can manipulate and mislead others. 2. Matthew 24:24.
God exposes the audacity of false prophets who claim to speak on His behalf without receiving any divine commission or message from Him. Their self-proclaimed prophecies are to be rejected as they do not originate from God. Matthew 24:11 “And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.”
23. 2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
False prophets are people who claim to speak for God but are actually speaking by demonic influence (1 John 4:3–4). In today’s age of “tolerance,” discriminating discernment can be viewed as being judgmental (cf. “Judge not,” Matt. 7:1).
Deuteronomy 18:20-22 stipulates that false prophets who presumptuously claim to speak in the name of God are to be put to death, while genuine prophets are expected to speak only what God commands them. Also, if a person prophesied a future event that didn’t occur, he or she would be considered false.
