  5. The Meacham book is good. But I liked “American Sphinx” by Joseph Ellis better. I found the Boles book a little too apologetic. It was well written though. I like Jefferson, but it’s ok to admit his faults and not rationalize them. When it came time to purge my bookshelf I chose to keep the Meacham book.
