Every year, thousands of locals and visitors alike flock to downtown Newport to take in the City’s annual Fourth of July fireworks display.

The City of Newport is located at the southern end of Aquidneck Island in Narragansett Bay, about 30 miles southeast of Rhode Island's capital of Providence. The City is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the south, Narragansett Bay on the west, and by the Town of Middletown on the northeast.

The Tax Assessors Office functions under the laws of Rhode Island and Ordinances established by the Newport City Council. Please note: If you're currently enrolled in the Resident Tax Rate Program for the 2023-24 tax cycle, you do not have to apply again for the 2024-25 tax year.
