Yet here you’ll find the grave of Gustav Mahler (1860 – 1911), one of the world’s greatest composers and conductors. His wife, Alma Mahler is buried here too, not next to him though.
May 17, 2024 · The Old Israelite Section near Gate 1 of the Central Cemetery, occupied from 1879, comprises around 52,200 gravesites in which around 100,000 people are buried. It is owned by the City of Vienna. In 2019, extensive clearing was carried out here to halt the further deterioration of the graves. The cemetery is kept unlocked and is open to the public.
