Discussion. Obviously not a Ghibli movie, but certainly one of the most "Ghibli-adjacent" movies ever made. Finally watched this after putting it off forever. When Marnie Was There is my favorite Ghibli movie but I always heard Mary and the Witch's Flower, the follow-up from Marnie director Hiromasa Yonebayashi, wasn't great.

May 16, 2024 · Based on Mary Stewart’s 1971 classic children’s book “The Little Broomstick”, “Mary and The Witch’s Flower” is an action-packed film full of jaw-dropping imaginative worlds, ingenious characters, and the stirring, heartfelt story of a young girl trying to find a place in the world.
Although it's not a Ghibli movie, it reall looked like one, though it really lacked the main aspects of a Ghibli movie, such as depth, a cast of unique characters, a good storyline, etc. It looked like it borrowed things from various Ghibli films too: The magic school in the sky reminded me of Harry Potter and Castle in The Sky, Young Aunt ...
