Down Three Dark Streets is a 1954 American film noir crime film directed by Arnold Laven and starring Broderick Crawford and Ruth Roman. The screenplay was written by Gordon Gordon and Mildred Gordon , based on their novel Case File FBI .
After FBI Agent Zack Stewart is killed, Agent John Ripley takes over the three cases he was working on, hoping one will lead to his killer. The first involves gangster Joe Walpo and Ripley finds his hideout through Joe's girl friend, Connie Anderson.
As the movie proper starts, hoodlum Joe Walpo (Joe Bassett) guns down a gas station attendant (William Schallert) on his way to Los Angeles. At FBI Headquarters, Agent Zack Stewart (Kenneth Tobey) is assigned the case. Stewart is a hard-working married man who is also working on two other cases.
