In 1780, at Count Dracula's Transylvanian castle, African prince Mamuwalde and his wife Luva ask the count to sign a petition abolishing slavery, but the count scoffs at the suggestion. He instead condemns Mamuwalde to eternal life as an undead, a vampire like himself, naming him "Blacula."
In 1780, the African prince Mamuwalde and his beloved wife Luva meet Count Dracula at his castle in Transylvania to request his support to end the slave trade. However, Dracula offends Mamuwalde and Luva and turns the prince into a vampire, cursing him with the name Blacula.
