The lovers overcome the Bussards' obstacles by having Jimmy's friend Ted Barnacle pose as Mary's new suitor. After arranging a wedding ceremony so that Ted can marry Mary "to protect her name," the Bussards finally get their long-awaited inheritance, which turns out to be $1.30 and a War Savings Stamp, when Mary marries Jimmy.

Getting Mary Married (1919) is one of Marion Davies' earlier efforts. A mildly cute romance with Norman Kerry tangled in inheritance dilemmas. Never out-right funny, but the chemistry is there and it's alright for a throw-away popcorn flick.
