The Lynchburg Museum System acknowledges and honors the Indigenous people who once resided on this land. We recognize that the Monacan Indian Nation, and all the nations that came before it, are the original custodians of Point of Honor. It is upon their land that we work, play, and learn today.
Point of Honor is an historic home, now a city museum, located in Lynchburg, Virginia. The property has commanding views of the city and the James River. Its name originated due to the land on which it is built being used as a clandestine dueling ground.
Point of Honor is a former plantation located in what is now the historic Daniel’s Hill neighborhood of Lynchburg. The refined Federal-style main house was built in 1815 for the Cabell family. It has been carefully restored and is now a Virginia Historic Landmark on the National Register of Historic Places.
