Five Children and It is a children's novel by English author E. Nesbit. It was originally published in 1902 in the Strand Magazine under the general title The Psammead, or the Gifts, with a segment appearing each month from April to December. The stories were then expanded into a novel which was published the same year.

Five Children and It is a 2004 family fantasy-comedy-drama adventure film adaptation of the 1902 novel Five Children and It, which features live action and computer animation.
Five Children and It combines eleven stories that Edith Nesbit wrote about five siblings who discovered a wish-granting fairy called The Psammead in the sandlot of the house they recently moved into. The stories were originally serialized in shorter form in Strand Magazine in 1900.

Five Children and It. Season 1. Robert, Anthea, Jane, Cyril and baby Lamb find 'It' one hot, sunny day while they are playing in a gravel pit. 'It' is Psammead, a small, vain, furry, simply wonderful creature, and 'It's' none too pleased at being disturbed.
Children in the country are naughty sometimes, too, but that is for quite different reasons. The children had explored the gardens and the outhouses thoroughly before they were caught and cleaned for tea, and they saw quite well that they were certain to be happy at the White House.
