Jul 16, 2011 · Impoverished, childless and living in a garbage dump, Miguel and Lina become instant celebrities when Lina miraculously becomes pregnant. But Lina gives birth to a fish, which increases her celebrity but leaves Miguel humiliated and the couple at odds.
First of all, a foreword: 'Fable of the Fish' is unpredictable. "Isda" is a compelling story of a woman who gave birth to a fish. It stars Cherry Pie Picache as Lina, and Bembol Roco as Miguel, a couple that could barely muster a living but is yearning to have a child. Alas, their offspring turns out to be some sort of a milkfish.
Breathtaking in the assured manner it weaves naturalist and magic realist elements, Adolfo Borinaga Alix Jr.’s tragicomic Fable of the Fish examines belief, specifically the curious conflation of folk tales, urban myths and Christianity unique to the Philippines.
