Maricopa County Animal Care & Control is a public animal shelter committed to finding good outcomes to lost, surrendered, and stray dogs. East Shelter: 1920 S. Lewis in Mesa. West Shelter: 2500 S. 27th Avenue in Phoenix. Heidi's Village: 600 N. 40th Street in Phoenix.
We are an animal services organization known for its transparency, effectively promoting the humane and responsible care of companion animals, reducing the euthanasia of sheltered animals, and responding to the needs of the community.

We respond to non-emergency calls seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Animal Control Officers (ACOs) conduct investigations, enforce state and local laws related to animals, as well as educate the public about animal welfare, restraint, and licensing.

If you have found a stray dog or injured stray cat and need our Animal Control Officers to pick it up, you can call us at 408-794-7297. An officer will pick it up from your residence as soon as they can at no charge.

We (the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control) can only accept and process animal noise complaints—including barking dog complaints—from residents of our service area. We provide service to all unincorporated (non-city) areas of Los Angeles County as well as to a number of contracted cities.
