Lady Mary Shepherd, née Primrose (31 December 1777 – 7 January 1847) was a Scottish philosopher who published two philosophical books, one in 1824 and one in 1827. According to Robert Blakey , in her entry in his History of the Philosophy of the Mind , she exercised considerable influence over the Edinburgh philosophy of her day.
Lady Mary Primrose was the 2nd daughter of Neil, 3rd Earl of Rosebery and Mary Vincent, born at Barnbougle Castle, Linlithgow, on the last night of 1777. Her brother was also an Earl of Rosebery.
Lady Mary [née Primrose] Shepherd is born at Barnbougle Castle, just outside of Edinburgh in Dalmeny parish as the second daughter of Neil Primrose, third Earl of Rosebery, and his second wife Mary, the daughter of Sir Francis Vincent of Stoke d’Abernon. 1805
