The Best of British £1 Notes began with a record-company suggestion for a new Sex Pistols compilation, but Rotten argued for a more complete set. “I wanted the bigger picture,” he says. “I want to make it clear that it’s all interrelated. There really isn’t that much difference between PiL and Pistols in terms of the way I write.
