Official Production Status: Pre-Production / Filming Scheduled (Last Updated: 29/02/2024) In issue #1391 of Production Weekly, it has been reported that The Boroughs is due to begin filming on July 1st, 2024, and will run until December 18th, 2024.
As filming is due to begin in July and will run until mid-December 2024, any chance of the series landing on the platform in 2024 is impossible. Apr 20, 2023 · The Duffer Brothers executive produce the supernatural mystery series created by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, who also developed The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance for Netflix. The Boroughs follows a group of retirees who must stop a time-stealing threat in the New Mexico desert.
The series, written by Jeffrey Addiss, Will Matthews, and Javier Grillo-Marxuach, began filming in the United Kingdom in November 2017 with Louis Leterrier serving as director. At New York Comic Con in 2018, Leterrier insisted that the series would depend on puppetry and not CGI, except for the use of green screens to remove puppeteers.
