James Garland Quintel is an American animator, storyboard artist, director, writer, producer, and voice actor. He is best known as the creator of the Cartoon Network series Regular Show (2010–2017), in which he voiced Mordecai and High Five Ghost, and the HBO Max series Close Enough (2020–2022), in which he voiced Josh.

Growing up in a rather boring town, he and friends would have to entertain themselves to pass time, many of these experiences grew into influences for many episodes of Regular Show.

As a student, he found early success with his irreverent animated shorts, which introduced characters he'd later include in Regular Show. The Naive Man from Lolliland, which introduced Pops, won two awards from the 2005 Nicktoons Film Festival.
