Riz Maslen is an English electronic musician. During the mid-1990s, she worked with 4hero and Future Sound of London. After playing keyboards for the Beloved, she took out a loan, built a home studio and created her first albums there.
After reading about her affiliation with Ninja Tune and its sister label Ntone, I was surprised to discover how organic Riz Maslen's latest release under the Neotropic moniker is. That's not to say White Rabbits is devoid of digital manipulation, but the 'electronica' label seems too limiting for such a broad work of music.

On White Rabbits, Riz Maslen (aka Neotropic) largely trades in the solo electronic style of her past work for a more expansive group sound. The predominantly instrumental material blends ambient, electronica, rock, and folk and strikes a good balance between spontaneous live playing and predetermined song structures.
