On September 6, 1983, the MSSB established Pope John Paul II Catholic Secondary School with the first 135 students in twelve temporary, portable classrooms next to the closed St. Bede. Paul M. Howard served as its inaugural principal for the first four years.
St. John Paul II Catholic High School is a college preparatory school for grades 9-12, located in Huntsville, Alabama, and serving North Alabama. Founded in 1996 as Catholic High School, St. John Paul II Catholic High School is sponsored by the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama.
St. John Paul II Catholic Secondary School began on September 6, 1983 with 135 students who were taught in the former St. Bede Catholic School building and in a dozen temporary portable classrooms. By 1984, both the school population and the number of portables had doubled.
