Biography. Thoughts of my childhood are in black and white or sepia like the small postage stamp squares of photographs. My past stamps me. My first friend's name was Che Che. She was Indian. A woman called Mama Hau-e looked after the little me running around in Africa, which is where I was born - in a mission hospital in Ndolage, Tanzania.

Jutta writes articles for various publications. She speaks at schools, giving writing workshops at TAFE and for Melbourne University Summer School. She has worked as a freelance script assessor for Simpson Le Mesurier, Film Victoria and the AFC.
Born on a coffee plantation in East Africa to German parents, Jutta Goetze spent her childhood on an orchard in Gippsland. She grew up speaking Swahili, Hindi, and German, the first two languages forgotten when she arrived in Australia. Goetze studied acting at Flinders University in South Australia before realising she was a writer, not an actor.
