Hursley (November 21, 1902 – February 3, 1989) and Doris Hursley (September 29, 1898 – May 5, 1984) they were best known for their serials, especially the medical drama General Hospital.

    Doris Hursley was the co-creator of the ABC soap opera General Hospital along with her husband Frank Hursley.

    Frank and Doris were writers for the show "Have Gun, Will Travel" and gained popularity after writing for the serial "Search for Tomorrow" before creating another serial and becoming head writers for that show, "General Hospital", from 1963 to 1973. At that time, they turned the show over to their daughter and son-in-law, Bridget and Jerome Dobson.

    In 1969, the Hursleys created and wrote another serial called "Bright Promise". They soon left that series which was canceled in 1972 and they retired from writing for serials.
