John Dandridge (born 1758 or 1762–1799) was a Virginia lawyer, planter and politician in New Kent County, Virginia, which he represented in the Virginia House of Delegates for four terms.
Martha’s parents married in 1730, when Frances Jones was twenty years old and John Dandridge was thirty years old. At the time of his marriage, John Dandridge was a moderately successful planter, possessing 500 acres along the Pamunkey River in New Kent County.
Her father, John Dandridge was the son of an English merchant and immigrated to America in 1714 with his older brother, Colonel William Dandridge. After arriving in North America, John Dandridge served as the clerk of New Kent County, a colonel in the county militia, and also as a vestryman and warden of his parish church.
Biographical Information: John Dandridge was the nephew of Martha Washington, the son of her brother Bartholomew Dandridge. John Dandridge was a lawyer who lived in New Kent County, Va. and then in Prince George County, Va. He married Rebecca Minge.
