Michaël R. Roskam ( Dutch: [ˈmixaːɛl ˈrɔskɑm]; born 1972) is a Belgian film director. Career. Roskam attended St. Lucas Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, where he studied painting and contemporary art, and the Binger Film Institute in Amsterdam where he graduated in 2005 with a master's degree in script writing and development. Michaël R. Roskam. Biography. As a (very) young man Michael R. Roskam was passionate about grafic novels, comic-strips and cinema. Inspired by the great Belgian tradition of comic-strip artists like Hergé, he decided to become a comic-strip artist himself and went to St-Lucas Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels.
