The Sheriff sat alone at the Tavern Keepers' bar after the last call again, he had followed this same sad routine for as long as he could remember. It had been half of a decade since he had taken refuge in Salem, forced to hide from the criminal organization that relentlessly wanted his head. Since he had sworn his duty to hunt them all down through his limited set of interrogation skills. Since he fell to his knees, surrounded by the remains of his wife and children, weak from what felt like an eternity of betrayal, murder and agony. Ever since, he had retired his badge and sworn to never show his face to dig up his past.
Even as the Sheriff sat on his stool, looking at his empty shot of whiskey for the twelfth time, he could not help but feel that something was off... What issues did the Don have to so rigorously seek only his head? Why did it feel like that ring of organized crime just appeared out of thin air? However, most importantly, why did it feel like this town had been cursed ever since its founding?
The Sheriff eventually paid his tab again, got up on his feet and stumbled out of the bar. The very drunk Sheriff proceeded to hobble through the streets, and into the safety of his home. Although these thoughts continued to plague the Sheriff, he once again got the strength to put it behind him. The town was able to bounce back from adversity since the criminals responsible for the attempted takeover of the town got burned at the stake, no doubt it could stay like this forev~
A faint shriek sounds from 4 houses over, as the Sheriff is startled from bed. Still in his ragged and dirty uniform, he slams open the door and rushes outside to see what is causing all the ruckus...
That is when he notices the body of the Coroner, dead on the floor... He had a hole blown through his chest, third degree burns all over his body, and his veins pulsated, a bright and unnatural purple color. The Sheriff saw this and was sent into a silent panic... Had the Don himself returned with more goons to seek out the Sheriff and end him once and for all? No... it can't be, they were dirty, no good criminals, but nowhere near capable enough to deliver such sheer power on a caliber this high... A mystery was in the works, the Sheriff had heard about them before, and had clashed temporarily with them and their later remnants, but knew little of them. The... Coven, wasn't it?

•Generally, Sheriff isn't as trusted as other Town Investigative roles like the Seer, since they can be easily faked.
•Any Coven or Neutral role with passive visits at night (most notably, the Potion Master and Arsonist) will have the easiest time fake-claiming Sheriff.
