Sep 11, 2020 · Read our The Barrier series review here! THE BARRIER is a new sci-fi series on Netflix. It’s from Spain (org. title La valla) and the plot definitely hits very close to home. It begins in the year 2020 but quickly jumps to 2045, which does not bode well. For most of us, anyway!

The Barrier: Dystopian series set 25 years after WW3 which along with environmental disaster and viruses laid the ground for a dictatorship to take power (about now) in Spain. Madrid is a grim place for ordinary people but still better than most of the country as a barrier keeps the infected out.
