Donald Herbert Houghton (2 February 1930 – 2 July 1991) was a British television screenwriter and producer. Career. Born in Paris to Scottish parents, Houghton started writing for radio in 1951 before moving into film and television in 1958.

Don Houghton (2 February 1930-2 July 1991) wrote the Doctor Who television stories Inferno and The Mind of Evil.
In addition to his work for Doctor Who, he also wrote several episodes of Sapphire & Steel.
His wife Pik-Sen Lim played Captain Chin Lee in The Mind of Evil, while their daughter Sara Houghton played Dr Samantha Madigan in The Sarah Jane Adventures television story The Curse of Clyde Langer.
