This song is about how one must be tough to survive in this world. You have to become a "killer", in a sense, and to you that's just a fact of life. You have to block out certain emotions to get by, and you can never seem to trust anyone. Others say you’re too tough and distrusting, but you feel as if they would act the same way back. To quote the song: "Tell me that I’m 'cutthroat', I think you’ve got your eyes closed."
This song also symbolizes a change in the band’s evolution.
