Gen Fukunaga (福永 元, Fukunaga Gen, born March 22, 1962) is a Japanese-born American engineer and entrepreneur. He established Funimation (now Crunchyroll), a company that distributes anime in Canada and the United States. He served as its president and chairman until 2019, where he stepped down.

Gen Fukunaga was born on 22 March 1961 in Itami, Hyogo, Japan. He is a producer and production manager, known for Dragon Ball Super: Broly (2018), Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone (2007) and Steins;Gate (2011). He is married to Cindy Brennan Fukunaga. They have three children.

Origins. In the early 1990s, Japanese-born businessman Gen Fukunaga was approached by his uncle, Nagafumi Hori, who was working as a producer for Toei Company. Hori proposed that if Fukunaga could start a production company and raise enough money, Toei Animation would license the rights to the Dragon Ball franchise to the United States.
