Jean-Pierre Gorin (born 17 April 1943) is a French filmmaker and professor, best known for his work with Nouvelle Vague luminary Jean-Luc Godard, during what is often referred to as Godard's "radical" period. Jean-Pierre Gorin was a student of Louis Althusser, Michel Foucault and Jacques Lacan.

Professor Emeritus. jpgorin@ucsd.edu. Biography. Jean-Pierre Gorin received his baccalaureate in Philosophy in 1960. He prepared for L'École Supérieure (Ulm) at the Lyçée Louis-le-Grand from 1960 to 1964 while pursuing his Licence de Philosophie at the University of Paris (Sorbonne).

Jean-Pierre Gorin began his filmmaking career in the mid Sixties. After meeting filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard the two created the infamous Dziga Vertov Group which has long been recognized as seminal to the period of radical filmmaking of the late Sixties and early Seventies.
In the wake of May ‘68, Jean-Pierre Gorin, an activist in the Marxist-Leninist Communist Youth movement, took up filmmaking rather than go into politics and teamed up with Jean-Luc Godard; together they created a collective – the Dziga Vertov Group – which aimed to “make political films politically”.
