Dominic “Tom” Genuardi Sr., 100, of Lansdale, PA, one of foundational builders of Genuardi’s Family Markets, passed away peacefully January 24 at the Meadowood Retirement Community surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 13, 1923, in Norristown, PA, he was the son of the late Gaspare and Josephine (Sclafani) Genuardi.
The Genuardi Family Foundation has its roots in a classic American story of immigration and strong work ethic. In the early years of the 20th century, two young Italian immigrants met and married in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Gaspare and Josephine Genuardi had a large and growing family to support.
Established in 2001, the Genuardi Family Foundation has funded 2,827 grants totaling $34 million to organizations serving residents of Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, and Bucks Counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

He had turned 102 on September 9. Born on September 9, 1909, he was the eldest child of the late Gaspare and Josephine (Scalfani) Genuardi.
