The Practice is an American legal drama television series created by David E. Kelley centering on partners and associates at a Boston law firm. The show ran for eight seasons on ABC , from March 4, 1997, to May 16, 2004.
The show's forte is its storylines about 'people who walk a moral tightrope.' 'The Practice' won numerous Emmys during its run, as well as a Peabody and Humanitas Prize in 2002 and 2003.

After the series' end in 2004, McDermott appeared in several movies before landing the starring role on "Big Shots," a short-lived ABC drama in which he played a high-powered CEO.
Tue, Mar 4, 1997. Bobby defends Rachel Reynolds, a young woman facing drug charges. She is not a drug dealer, but was trying to cover for her brother. Lindsay represents Emerson Ray, who is suing a tobacco company in a wrongful death suit. Lindsay's favorite law professor, Anderson Pearson, represents the defense.
