According to the local traditions Assunta and her sisters are unable to marry unless someone in the family kills the offender and restores the honor of the family.
Assunta Patané, una giovane siciliana segretamente innamorata del compaesano Vincenzo Macaluso, viene sequestrata e condotta in una masseria, dove i due consumano una notte d'amore. La mattina dopo l'uomo fugge a Londra onde evitare il matrimonio riparatore. Caduta in disgrazia, la ragazza è costretta a cercarlo per ripagare l'onta.
