Irreversibly emboldened, I set out to make my first comedy record, a 45 RPM single, which was released later that year. "Dan's Song" made it's debut on the Demento show on October 5th, 1980 and would even occasionally make its way onto the Demento Top 10, on and off, for the next couple of years.
