Oct 1, 2019 · In May, Beaufort resident and artist Aki Kato started painting the mural that now graces the walls of the updated Center. When he first saw the center, Aki was overwhelmed by the size of the building. Seeing that the room was divided by panels, he did the same with his mural.
Mar 5, 2010 · Aki Kurose was born Akiko Kato on February 25, 1925, in Seattle. Her parents Harutoshi (ca. 1882-1952) and Murako (Okamura) Kato (ca. 1898-1990), had recently moved to Seattle after immigrating from Japan to California. Harutoshi had immigrated after attending the Yokohama School of Commerce. Murako went to California to attend college.
