Carewe began to focus on film after appearing in "Doctor X" (1932) with Lionel Atwill and the Lionel Atwill thrilling adaptation "The Mystery of the Wax Museum" (1933). Toward the end of his career, Carewe acted in the mystery "Charlie Chan's Secret" (1936) with Warner Oland.
