George Waggner. Born George Waggoner in New York City on the 7th of September, 1894, George Waggner attended the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy before serving in World War I. He began his career as an actor, playing tribal chieftain Yousaef alongside Rudolph Valentino in 1921’s The Sheik.
Began his career as a silent film actor, became a songwriter with the advent of sound and moved into screenwriting and directing in the 1930s. Probably best known for "The Wolf Man" (1941), Waggner also directed TV shows into the 60s, including "77 Sunset Strip," "The Untouchables" and "Batman."
