Born on July 11, 1959 in Gries am Brenner in Austria Tobias Moretti (in fact: Tobias Bloéb) enrolls at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna to study composing. A few terms later he quits in favour of acting lessons at the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich.
In 2020, his performance in Gipsy Queen received the Austrian Film Award for best actor in a leading role. He was also awarded the Salzburg Festival Pin in 2020. In 2005, he was awarded the Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring by the German Academy of the Performing Arts for his stage performance as Ottokar.
