Longtime Washington-Mid Atlantic Local member Rosemary Knower passed away on March 27 at the Lankenau Medical center in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. Best known for her roles as Lady Macbeth and a schoolteacher in John Waters’ Hairspray, Knower was very active in local theater in Washington and Baltimore for over 35 years.

Rosemary Knower—actor, director, artist, writer, poet, mentor, and teacher to hundreds—left us on March 27th, 2019. Her end was quiet and quick, as she had wanted it to be; she was attended by people who loved her.
The Rosemary Knower Memorial Tuition Assistance Fund is provided to young women with an identified passion for Theatrical Arts. It is an annual designation available to rising sophomores and above, to supplement the student’s Park School need-based tuition assistance award.
