John Qualen (born Johan Mandt Kvalen, December 8, 1899 – September 12, 1987) was an American character actor of Norwegian heritage who specialized in Scandinavian roles.

John Qualen. John Qualen, born John Oleson, actor (born at Vancouver 8 Dec 1899; died at Torrance, Ca 12 Sep 1987). John Qualen was born to Norwegian immigrant parents and brought up in Vancouver and rural Illinois. He attended Northwestern University and began acting in tent shows and stock productions, to the dismay of his strict minister father.
