Alda Sinha (born 11 November 1936), better known by her stage name Mala Sinha, is a former Indian actress who has worked in Hindi, Bengali and Nepali films. Initially starting her career with regional cinema, she went on to become a top leading actress in Hindi Cinema in the late 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s.
Before becoming an actress, Mala Sinha was an official singer for All India Radio (AIR). Mala Sinha’s friends used to tease Mala by calling her ‘Dalda’ (Brand name of a vegetable oil). So she changed her name for her first movie (Jai Vaishno Devi) to ‘Baby Nazma’.
