Jan 21, 2002 · SAN DIEGO— Alex Hannum, the first coach to win championships in both the ABA and NBA, has died. He was 78. Hannum died Friday at his home in San Diego. The cause of death was not immediately know. The Philadelphia 76ers honored Hannum with a moment of silence at Saturday's game.
