Ludger Beerbaum ( German pronunciation: [ˈluːtɡɛʁ ˈbeːɐˌbaʊ̯m], audio ⓘ; born 26 August 1963 in Detmold, North Rhine-Westphalia) is an internationally successful German equestrian who competes in show jumping and has been ranked the No. 1 Show Jumper in the world by the FEI on multiple occasions.
He won four Olympic gold medals, and more German national titles than any other rider. In the Olympic games there were many dramatic moments. In 1988 he won with the team riding on a borrowed horse (The Freak), after his horse, Landlord had injured himself.

The German master has collected 20 international medals, ridden for his country on 133 teams, and made 24 championship appearances. Like his compatriot Marcus Ehning, Beerbaum won the Rolex Grand Prix at CHIO Aachen three times.
