Jan 4, 2022 · During a flight to Japan in 1993 for one of his frequent All Japan tours, Gordy would allegedly take roughly 50 pain pills, resulting in an overdose on the flight that left him in a coma. It would be five days before Gordy emerged from this coma, unfortunately with permanent brain damage.

Terry Ray Gordy, Sr. (April 23, 1961 – July 16, 2001) was an American professional wrestler who was best known in North America for being a member of the Fabulous Freebirds. Gordy started wrestling in 1975 at the age of 14 as Terry Mecca for the I.W.A.
In one famous match shown on WTBS, (Now known as the piledriver match) Terry Gordy gave Ted DiBiase four consecutive piledrivers, which led to Dibiase being taken away in an ambulance. In mid 1981, Buddy Roberts left GCW.
