Ronald Andrew Zook [1] (/ z ʊ k /; born April 28, 1954) is an American football coach who is a special teams quality control coach at the University of Maryland. He was the head football coach at the University of Florida from 2002 to 2004 and the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign from 2005 to 2011.
Before his stint in Kansas City, Zook spent three seasons (1996-98) as the special teams coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 1997, Zook oversaw a Steelers’ kickoff return unit led by returner Will Blackwell that ranked No. 6 in the NFL with a 24.7-yard average.
